the SPARE Pair
It's happened plenty of times. It's ten minutes to closing time and we'll receive the frantic phone
call. "I'm travelling to (insert foreign locale) tomorrow morning and I (broke / lost / immolated / etc.) my only
pair of eyeglasses. WHAT CAN YOU DO?"
Thankfully at eyevolution, we carry a large
selection of frames and polycarbonate lenses with an antiglare & scratch resistant treatment in stock. Depending
on your prescription, we can craft a pair of single vision glasses in under an hour. We've also been able to use a patient's
own lenses, (salvaged from their former frame) and cut them into a new (albeit smaller) frame. This is very useful if
your prescription is unusual or you wear progressive lenses.
Far better of course, is to avoid the frantic
phone call altogether & make sure you have a reliable SPARE pair of eyeglasses. I know eyewear
is expensive, especially if you wear progressive lenses, but second pairs are discounted 20% if ordered at the same time as
your original pair. Take the opportunity to accessorize yourself: balance your professional look with one that's more
expressive of your (fun / mischievous / adventurous) side. The peace of mind you gain from knowing you have a spare
pair is priceless.

BACK TO COOL!
Today is the first day back to school for most of our patients. Books and school clothes have been purchased, maybe
a new cell phone or personal computer. We've seen many of our patients return for their annual exams to get updated
prescriptions and be fit for contact lenses. If your child is considering sports activities this autumn, please consider
protective eyewear. Impact resistant specs from Hilco or Liberty Eyewear can be fit with durable polycarbonate or Trivex
lenses for maximum safety. Sports-related eye injuries can have far-reaching effects beyond the initial trauma.
Traumatic cataract and glaucoma can occur following an injury, necessitating surgical and lifelong care. The following
graphic is from Prevent Blindness America. It and other information related to sports safety can be
found on their website, www.preventblindness.org
http://preventblindness.org/sites/default/files/national/documents/fact_sheets/FS09_SportsInjuries.pdf
If your child participates in any of the listed sports or is considering doing so, please consider having them
fit for the appropriate eyewear. Thank you!
